On Friday I believe, was my last ride on Sasha before the ice and 'rain' came through over the weekend.
It was cold. and windy. and almost 5pm, aka dinner time for the horses at Hidden Creek.
It was not a memorable ride.
Horses were coming in and she was out working and just did not want to.
We ended OK, and walked back up to the barn.
I was planning on working on canter-walks, counter-canter, and her shoulder-in. We did it, but she was not happy about it and did let me know.
On one hand, yes, I know that riding around her schedule time for dinner was is not a good idea, not really ever is with most any horse, simply because horses like routine and schedules, so it's best not to mess with them. But, on the other hand, too bad. I cannot always make it at the same time every day or any other riding or lessons going on in the arena, so tough love. She will get fed, not that she necessarily knows that, after we ride, and also, I think of being at shows. Ride times can be anywhere, early or super late in the PM,.....around her dinner. So, it can be a bit frustrating. I need to ask some pros. what they think of this and what they do.
Mmmmmmmmm,...............
I think too, that we have been having such good rides all last week that it was a bit of a letdown after this ride being 'not-so-great'. I actually called Danny as I was heading out/leaving to vent a little about it and see what he thinks.
It was quite a letdown. Won't let it get to me, must see the positives, and move on.
Better rides to come!
