Danny.
Darling.
As I might have mentioned or posted before, Danny, my fiance, was working and planning on apprenticing under a sporthorse farrier, working on becoming a full-time farrier.
Earlier, I had showed him what (little) I knew about trimming barefoot, so did a barefoot trimmer we knew, and off he went ( to practice and get a feel for it, not 'off he went to work full-time on this,.........not enough education yet! Therefore, that is what the apprenticeship was for, as well as his planning to go to a farrier school ). We worked on some horses that needed trimming, and he was a natural, really interested and catching on quickly with a good sense and feel, savvy, with working around horses ( even naughty babies,..... ) and with the tools.
He had(has) a really good eye for it and was able to fix a lot of 'problems' he encountered with the hoof, as the horses he was working on has horrible hooves due to lack of trimming and farrier work, he was able to really work on correctly a lot of balance and heel issues, as well as be savvy enough to know that it takes time to fully correct something like a seriously overgrown heel or the sort.
Anyway, it was serious. He was loving it. And to be honest, so was I.
I invested in some tools for him, we got a hoof stand, and were talking with setting up some work with other farriers in the area. I was going to document some of the trimming work he was doing on these horses and ponies he was working on, showcaseing his abilities and going to be a resume for him, more or less. Until, the dreaded back problems came into play,.......
(And now, I think I am going to go up to the coffeehouse and have some breakfast, so I will continue this post later,......or I might just make something up in my kitchen, which is about 1/2 a mile or so (no idea really,.....) closer. Will laziness win over? Or should we call it frugalness, perhaps, even though I still have a gift card for the coffeehouse a client of mine gave me for Christmas of which I loved by the way!!)
