I have been such a slacker with updates, so sorry. It was cold this AM!! Haha, duh. and thank you, finally. Makes me feel so much more energized, I can usually get a lot more done recently due to the weather, whoo hoo. It's just so invigorating. and the horses love it too.
Been blanketing Gu for a few weeks now, once the weather dropped into the 60-degrees at night, it was getting chilly! Been alternating on those 60-degree nights of using his light sheet (which is a high-neck and really keeps him quite warm, I love it), and his heavy outdoor blanket, which is his usual turnout blanket. He gets a little warmer in it, a few AM's he was a little warmer than normal, but not much. and, on those 5o-degree/40-degree nights, I want him to stay warm, so it's OK for a little warmer in the AM. So, all is well with that.
He is doing well. I have the farrier coming out today (midday, between my classes at 11-12:45, and 5:30-8:45, fun, right??) to do his hooves. They are barefoot, still. He has been holding up really well, and at the end of the day, I am happy for him to be barefoot as long as he is comfortable and moving well, also as long as his hooves hold well. His front R (the club-type one), has been chipping badly, so he did give me a rasp to try to keep it cleaned up between visits, but it just needs a little work. All in all though, he is going well. Still walk-trot, but longer amounts of each, hacking out more, and more schooling work.
I finally got a schedule for my Fall II semester '10 classes, so I was organizing the ponies (Gu, Pokey, Sasha, and Racey*new*) into the schedule,....whew! It's good though, I am NOT going to overload myself. ESPECIALLY with the (possible) move we are going to do this winter.
However, my classes this semester are good-all PEDU classes for me and a 3-credit class I needed for hours and will count towards my required 'social sciences' or whatever else that shit is that the college 'requires' you to take in addition to your major classes,......ridiculous and a total way for the college to make MORE $$ off of you, and it's required that you do it. Ridiculous. really.
But I digress,.......horses are good, coffee is good (new coffeemaker), and I need to go feed the ponies this AM, so off I go! Got to feed, throw hay, class at 11AM (which means I will head to Cola. at 10AM to get a parking spot!), back to barn after class at 11AM, farrier, (need to find my checkbook before that!), back to Cola. for 5:30PM class tonight, get home after 9PM. Whew, OK, I can do this. Somewhere between farrier and the 5:30PM class I might be able to get some farmer's market shopping done (if not this AM), and find some workout stuff for these classes I will need-cannot really do yoga, pilates, or spin class in jeans, eh? :)
Have a good day,
-Em
